The Council of the Institute of Company
Secretaries of India in exercise of the powers vested under clause (a)
of sub-section (2) of Section 15 of the Company Secretaries Act, 1980,
as amended by the Company Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 2006 approved the
new syllabus for the Professional Programme of the Company
Secretaryship Course, and decided as under:

The New Syllabus for professional Programme shall comprise nine papers
including one Paper to be opted by the students out of five elective
papers namely, (i) Banking Law and Practice; (ii) Capital, Commodities
and Money Market; (iii) Insurance Law and Practice; (iv) Intellectual
Property Rights-Law and Practice; and (v) International BusinessLaws and
Practice, instead of eight papers as at present.
The detailed contents for each of the nine papers of Professional Programme including electives under the new syllabus.
